Believe It Or Not But…
The Fifth Step in our 12&12 speaks about First Step meetings (perhaps geographically speaking) right there on page 55! Yep! It says;
“We search for an easier way - which usually consists of the general and fairly painless admission that when drinking we were sometimes bad actors. Then, for good measure, we add dramatic descriptions of that part of our drinking behavior which our friends probably know about anyhow.”
Really has it down to a “T.” Furthermore…
“But of the things which really bother and burn us, we say nothing. Certain distressing or humiliating memories, we tell ourselves, ought not be shared with anyone. These will remain our secret. Not a soul must ever know. We hope they’ll go to the grave with us.”
How many of you have heard Father Martin speak about “activity vs. action?” I haven’t heard it for a while but, as I recall, he talks of folks confusing going to a Fifth Step meeting as doing work on your Fifth Step!
It just doesn’t work that way… and if we’re going to adapt every single time a newcomer walks in - to that newcomer - at least we might mention what the First Step is rather than do that “Can you bottom this” deal that a friend spoke of here a while ago. (Can’t remember which one of you said that, please remind me… Yes, I’m being sarcastic - 
)

JEZZZZZZZZZZZ Joan of ark didn’t bitch this much when at the stack ,,,,,still making it easy for the new comer to FEEL WELCOME Are they? nothing changes if nothing changes ,, go see Father Joe in Richmond hill “St Anne’s” he will be more then happy to let you use the social hall for beginner meetings and step meetings , tell em I sent ya ,,but watch him he is long on the hugs if you know what I mean.
OH and speaking of bitching ‘member that little cold I couldn’t shake? well turned into full blown strep for me and the kids ,,,not Margaret just got over it this morning 2 1/2 hrs wait at the doc on Sunday morning what a sight that was Still loving all …see ya buddy
