Goat Dancing
My afternoon has devolved into Goat Dancing. Goat Dancing is how a friend of mine describes the need to handle all sorts of little, niggly little details.
For example, a client of mine called to ask why a certain press release hadn’t been sent. It wasn’t sent because I never got the information. That led to both of us searching our in and out boxes, trying to figure out how it went missing. After a few minutes I realized that was unproductive, so suggested an alternative approach, which seems to be working.
I’m doing a website for the same client and somehow he lost the login information I need to upload pages. So I called the ISP, who usually gives stellar service, only to end up on hold for far too long. I waited about 30 minutes and tried again. This time I got an automatic announcement explaining they are having trouble with a mail server. I’ll try that call again tomorrow.
While I was on hold another client called. I returned the call, but she’s changed her number. She sent me an email suggesting a 3 p.m. call, but without saying which day… you get the picture… it’s Goat Dancing all the way.
The only answer I know is to slog through what needs to be done today, and put off the rest of it. Actually, I suspect someone nearby is praying for patience. I never do ask for patience anymore – when I do, I’m given far too many opportunities to practice it.
I’m also going to continue to be grateful for how well my morning went. ;)
With love, blessings and gratitude,
