God Opened The Gates Of Hell
I’m rather certain that, for those of us who like to describe it this way, it has become a passionate belief!
It was on this day, at 7 pm., at the beginners meeting at the Blue Point Traditions Group, Blue Point, LI., New York, in 1990, that God opened the gates of hell and let me out!
I didn’t perceive it that way at that moment :)
The Blue Point Group. Thank God for the folks who were there at that time. Ron was the first person who approached me after the meeting (that I offered not a thing to) to ask if it was my first meeting. Once he had the answer, he suggested I come back to a few more, pay attention to the speaker and if I heard parts of my life’s story, or my entire life’s story, then I more than likely belonged there.
I sought out this group because it was far enough away from home that I figured no one would see me going to AA. There was an AA group in my church btw but heaven forbid I should be seen going to AA. Like no one knew I was a falling down, angry drunk hah!
So I came back and when I heard Paul say that, when he came home each day, he automatically flinched from the fear that his father was about to hit him as he walked through the front door, I knew I was home.
Thank you God!

All that talk about First Step meetings and I didn’t realize yesterday was your anniversary. Congratulations Mark on your 17 years….
You only have me by a week…. plus a month….. plus a decade… Just think, 6200 days, one at a time.
I love anniversaries. I was so cynical when I got here that Birthdays didn’t mean a thing…but that first 30 day coin was something. And my first anniversary was just amazing. And then I did it again and again and… Just another reason I love this program.
Congratulations.
