A Dozen Steps

Pressure Relief Groups

by Anne W. on January 17th, 2006

In Debtors Anonymous we have a tool called a Pressure Relief Group (PRG) or Pressure Relief Meetings. The stated goal is to meet with two other DA members for the purpose of setting up a spending plan. The idea is to relieve the pressure we’re feeling around money. Most of the time, you end up with a fairly specific Action Plan which helps you meet your goals.

But PRGs can have another focus if we want. I had a PRG last night with two members from my Business Debtors Anonymous Group. My goal was to identify and let go of beliefs and actions that sabotage my income.

It was a great session and I came away with a good, beginning Action Plan that I’ve already started to use.

Although I learned about this tool in DA, I can imagine the same sort of thing in any 12 Step program. If, in your recovery, you’re feeling pressure about something in your life, consider asking two other program people to help you develop an Action Plan. You may be pleasantly surprised.

With love, blessings and gratitude,

Anne W., 12 Step Blogger
