The Principle Of Rotation
I was asked this question;
Q. - Our group has to give a lecture about the importance of rotation of the jobs (services) in perspective of the second tradition. Where can I find some help to develop this theme? Thank you very much. - Djeigap
A. - Here - “The A.A. Group - Where It All Begins”
Page 26: “Traditionally, rotation ensures that group tasks, like nearly everything else in A.A., are passed around for all to share. Many groups have alternates to each trusted servant who can step into the service positions if needed.”
From yesterday’s reading;
“Humility… really is the ability to look at myself - and honestly accept what I find.”
Once again, from the pamphlet: “Rotation helps to bring us spiritual rewards far more enduring than any fame. With no A.A. “status” at stake, we needn’t compete for titles or praise—we have complete freedom to serve as we are needed.”
Bill says in “The Language of The Heart” - page 23, in relation to the 9th Tradition;
“Each group needs the least possible organization. Rotating leadership is usually the best… All such representatives are to be guided in the spirit of service, for true leaders in AA are but trusted and experienced servants of the whole. They derive no real authority from their titles. Universal respect is the key to their usefulness.”
What do you think might be one of the pitfalls of continuous, unbroken, same leadership, within the rooms of AA? Use your imagination…
