Third Step Prayer
“Many of us said to our Maker, as we understood Him:”
“God, I offer myself to Thee - to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do They will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!”
“We thought well before taking this step making sure we were ready; that we could at last abandon ourselves utterly to Him.”
How many of us, myself definitely included, have had our moments when, had you asked us whether or not we’d done a third step, would have answered “Why, yes, I have.” About an hour or so later, in a meeting, we’d be complaining about something, some difficulty. Eh? Didn’t I ask my HP to remove my difficulties so that I might be a witness to those I would help? I guess, for that night anyway, I was more interested in me instead of looking to help others. Once again, I’m FOS! I hadn’t really thought that well nor had I utterly abandoned myself to Him. I had a grip on the other end of the towel!
Of course, now, this is NOT Perfect’s Anonymous now, is it? :-)

The third step prayer is the putting the Deal together. That from now on God’s in charge and I’m not, and if he takes away my difficulties I’m gonna tell everyone that He did it. It’s a big Deal; the Book calls it the keystone through which we walk.
