Walkarounds
If you’ve never done a “walkaround” you might be on the wrong blog…
Sounds a bit like something Australian doesn’t it? As if you might be in the middle of nowhere in central Australia and your path is blocked so you do a walkaround eh? Naaah…
And, for the purposes of this blog, I’ll be sarcastic and assume you’ve never driven an automobile (or a scoot) while under the influence of alcohol, right? Ya’ see, if that is true then you can’t possibly understand what a walkaround is.
It might be what a football coach does as his team is practicing. It might be a way to get some exercise at a park. If you’re a sober member of society it could be a peaceful walk in a meadow listening to birds or standing in awe at the power of God in the trees.
If you’re like me, a walkaround is something entirely different than a peaceful walk.

A walkaround is something you do early in the morning (or afternoon). You come to and discover you’re in your own bed and you begin to wonder how bad you got last night because you don’t remember driving home. As quickly as possible (remember, you’re still “feeling it”), you throw on a pair of jeans and look for your car keys. You might have to ask where the keys are (another embarrassing moment). Once you have keys in hand, you go to your car and walk around it, looking for dents, damage, or worse, blood and body parts. That is the basics of a walkaround…
Certainly, depending on whether you noticed what time it was, you may feel a bit relieved knowing that it’s the middle of the afternoon and no police have been to your door yet so you might not have been that bad…
