We Plan - God Just Sorta Giggles

by Mark on September 24th, 2007

The way it was originally put to me was “Mark plans and God laughs.” I’ve begun to feel this to be a bit too heavy the last few years. I no longer believe God laughs at our troubles.

I do believe God sees our troubles and, because He is God, is prepared to catch us when we fall. Yet, He knows we’ll fall.

Heard from someone returning to the rooms today who said they were “planning” on staying around this time. One of the many, very distinct, lessons I’ve learned is that there is truly only one thing constant about our world, your world, or my world, and that is that it’s always changing despite anything I may want, need or plan.

Which may very well be part of why early on someone determined that we ought to do this only One Day at a Time!

What I can do is plan my day around a meeting but I (for me now) must know that everything is subject to change. If I have planned my day around a meeting and I can’t make it, I’ve offered my best for that day and needn’t feel guilty. But, if I plan something so seriously that when I run into life’s changes, often without warning, and I can’t realize my goal for that day, I might have “set myself up” for disappointment. I still don’t handle disappointment very well (much better than I used to).

I love this… to help with this entry I just went to Google, searched for One Day at a Time and found this at Turning Leaf;

“I came into AA to save my ass and found it was attached to my soul.”

Watch out what you ask for, you just might get it :)

    You can also turn that around to read …
    “I came into AA to save my soul and found it attached to my ass.”
    Either way, it works.

    “everything is subject to change” This was a humbling lesson for me to learn. Very humbling indeedio~

    Hope you are well,

    Hi Gwen,

    I don’t get around as much as I ought to either. I am very well, thank you. Life is still strange, but I am doing all right - yeah, lol, go figure… :)

    Thanks for stopping by and taking part.
